If being outdoors, meeting new people and eating restaurant quality vegitarian food, relaxing in gorgous glamping pods (and learning to carve stone) sounds like fun. This is the course for you. Booking for summer 2022 is open.
Either build on existing skills or start from the
beginning, this course is suitable for absolute beginners and experienced
carvers alike. Using a range of historic plaster casts from the tutors personal
library, you will learn to transfer information not only using traditional
tools such as mallets and chisels, but also how choose and identify natural
stone for different jobs.
This guided course is structured to develop skill and nurture confidence for your next carving adventure.
Whether you a complete beginner or would like to hone
your skills, this course will be adaptable to whatever your level of skill. You
will learn about lettering design, layout, drawing your work directly onto the
stone and methods of carving with chisels. There will be plenty of opportunity
for individual tuition and expert guidance. Stone, tools and materials are
provided, though students are welcome to bring their own stone and project.
Set in an area of rewilding within the West Acre estate, Bradmoor Woods is in the heart of rural Norfolk. The price of the workshop includes all meals (vegetarian) and one camping pitch. If Camping is not your thing, you can choose to upgrade to one of the super comfortable glamping structures with all bedding supplied. There are also a small number of spaces available to bring a (non carving) friend for a small extra fee. They can share the glamping experience and explore the area around or just relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
